G'day, Mate!

by, Jan Ross

I sent an email to a tourism board the other day about a trip that we have planned in April and then added a copy to one of the many email folders I have created to keep track of all my trip planning. I love planning and writing about all my travels, but it certainly requires a lot of organizational skills! Planning trips when I am in the middle of packing for another one would have been overwhelming a few years ago, but I am quickly getting used to it.

The April trip is one of several we have planned in the spring and summer but one of those folders gives me a little quiver of excitement every time I see it. It's full of info about our big fall trip down under with Brendan Vacations. We have traveled with Brendan twice before, to Ireland and, more recently, to Hawaii and we love the concept of an escorted vacation. Sort of like a cruise on land!

Traveling to Australia is another one of those trips of a lifetime I have written about before and we are very excited about it. But you don't have to wait to take that trip to Australia; in fact you can go there several times in one year. All you have to do is win this contest!

Beginning November 1st, the South Australian Tourism Commission and Qantas Airways gave you Unlimited Reasons to Travel to the Wildlife, Outback, and Wine State.

It’s time to start planning those down under itineraries because starting on November 1 through December 31, 2010, the South Australia Tourism Commission and Qantas Airways have partnered to offer unlimited flights for two for one year to South Australia—the “WOW” state! Renowned for its unique blend of Wine, Outback, and Wildlife, one lucky traveler and a guest, who will be selected on January 15, 2011, will be able to fly to South Oz for one full year to explore the diverse touring options the state has to offer. To learn more about travel to the region and to register, visit

Travelers to South Australia will have the opportunity to retrace Australia’s Brand Ambassador Chef Tom Colicchio’s recent trip to the region, activities like cuddling a koala and shark diving off the rugged coast of Port Lincoln, to savoring regional delicacies and creating a personal wine blend, Chef Colicchio’s diverse travel experiences are only a small sampling of what the region holds in store.

Those interested in traveling to the state can take advantage of great flights and package deals with Qantas Vacations for a limited time only. Visit the website to learn about the fantastic deals one can take advantage of when booking online at

About South Australia
South Australia is home to Kangaroo Island (known as the “Galapagos of Australia”), the famed Barossa wine region, and Adelaide, the charming capital city. South Australia, the fourth largest of Australia’s six states, is located in the southern half of the country. South Australia is a haven for wine lovers. Over 60% of all exported Australian wines come from the state’s top wine regions—the Barossa Valley, the Clare Valley, the Coonawarra, and more. Soft adventure activities such as hiking, diving, and mountain biking abound in this nature-filled state. Some of the best places to glimpse it are the stunning Kangaroo Island, rugged Flinders Ranges, and enchanting Gawler Ranges. Known as the “Gateway to the Outback,” South Australia is also home to Coober Pedy, the world’s opal mining capital.
